Individual/Family Newsletter 6: Household and Neighbourhood Plans

This is your last newsheet before the ShakeOut.

Have a good day and thank you for your participation. I can relax more easily here in earthquake territory knowing that others are prepared better for what will inevitably happen ... we just don't know when!

The final topic for discussion for families and individuals is

HOUSEHOLD AND NEIGHBOURHOOD PLANS

and

give a rough idea of the basic stuff involved in an emergency plan. The essential part, I believe, is the bit about knowing what each other will do if an earthquake happens when you are parted from your family. Just talking through the plan is all you may need to get you all together again without compromising safety.

Our provisions plan is attached below. This sits in our emergency kit as a reminder of what we discussed. Our plan is to all make our way to home, or to the nursery for our son if he is there, and then go home. This is not written, but understood, and easy because we both work in town.

A neighbourhood plan is more difficult because it involved talking to others. Our plan is attached below. It is very minimal, but it is a start. Each member has a copy of this and of the members of the group. It reminds us all about our responsibilities. It is a great way to meet your neighbours too ...

Best wishes for your ShakeOut. Dont forget to get some photos or videos and add them to the website to share with others.
