A press conference following the drill at a retail store to announce the Success of ShakeOut in Southern California, an MOU between Target & the USGS, and the public-private partnership that helps makes LA ready for the next big event. Ready America’s “Big Shaker” will be on site beginning at 4 a.m. for interviews.

Full Description:

Times: (6am to 12pm)
4am to 9am (+11am and 12noon): individual interviews, many stations, big “shaker”
9am to 10:20am: Prep for ShakeOut Drill/Position observers and media
10:20am: ShakeOut Drill & Broadcast over PA/team members announce it
10:22am: Store “impact assessment” / Distribute kits to customers
10:30am: Press Conference
11:15am: Conclude

-Drill inside Target store with employees reacting to a drill; customers will also be invited to participate.
-Target distributing preparedness material to customers & employees
-Distribution of kits to customers
-National and local leaders coming together to get ready for the inevitable earthquake
-Announcing of MOU between Target & USGS Natural Hazards
-Big Shaker (from 5am to 9am)

1. Announce MOU between Target & USGS Natural Hazards
2. Highlight the partnership between Science, Emergency Management/Public Safety (including CalEMA, FEMA, etc.) & the Private Sector
3. Celebrate the millions of Californians who made themselves safer by practicing how to protect themselves during earthquake shaking and invite them to take “one more step” to so the California will recover more quickly from the next big earthquake.
