Stories From The Great ShakeOut

Shelly Moore
(Accounting Officer Specialist - State of Ca Dept of Corrections Regional Accounting Office Bakersfield)

Our office was very excited to participate in this drill. I am the Safety Officer for our office. I brought candy in in small bags and printed out the many websites you offered. I passed these out to each staff member as a "1 minute earthquake survival kit". The staff loved it and we all dropped, covered, and held on for a full minute. Unfortunately, we were unable to get any of the live streams or websites, radio stations that did the live broadcast. We feel that our drill would have been better with the sound effects. But, overall, the drill went smoothly and we called all clear after the minute. Then we gathered and discussed what we would do when the shaking stopped. There was a question and answer time and then we went back to work. Our Safety Committee plans to have random drills like this quarterly from now on. Thanks for all the information and support!!!!!
