Patrick Dougherty After the duck and cover / helping those in need around us, the Calvary Chapel Burbank Relief team would respond to the Church for Local operation or deployment. The Relief team at Calvary Chapel Burbank is dynamic. We cover the following; We support readiness inside our Church facility such as Fire Exit sign placement that have battery back up and luminescent, flood light placement, fire extinguisher placement, and first aid kit placement. We encourage our church members to be disaster ready at home. This is also done thru the website. Calvary Chapel Burbank has also been blessed with a 1000 meal Field Kitchen that is modular. This field kitchen can be towed anywhere in Los Angeles County or anywhere its needed. Meals may include but are not limited to Sandwiches/ salads/ chips/ fresh fruit, Pasta meals/ Beef Stew/ Meaty or Vegitarian Soups/ Chili/ Hotdogs/ fresh or canned vegetables. In January 2010 we will have 64sq feet of portable grill space that will enable the cooking of Chicken/ Hamburgers/ Hotdogs/ Corn on the cob/ Western style. All food products are cooked using safefood handeling techniques approved by the Federal Government and Los Angeles County. All food storage is off site, or in refrigerated trailers requested only when ready to cook and monitored to ensure food safety is the highest priority. It has a modular three compartment sanitization tub system (Scrape out/wash out/rinse/bleach sanitizer) for cleaning pots, pans, cambros, and all cooking tools. It has a modular food preperation area consisting of can opening equipment/chopping equipment/seasoning/ and of course trash can, for empty cans. It has a modular cooking area with (6) 30,000 BTU propane burners, 5 40qt stock pots, ladles, stainless steel paddles, heat gloves, etc. The cooking team is trained on Fixed and Field Kitchen equipment. It has a modular serving system that consists of Food cambros/Drink cambros/tables, serving tools spoons and spoodles, plates, bowls, clamshells, and banquet packs, hand sanitizer. It also carries safety equipment such as fire extinguishers/hair nets/serving gloves/crew hand washing equipment/ flood light and generator. We have the ability to cook on site and transport food to where it is needed, or cook on or near a particular site, with basic support such as food products canned/ heat and eat/ fresh vegitables. Basic loogistical support is needed from the requesting agnecy or organization. The Spiritual Care team is trained and ready to provide individual or group prayer, Bible studies, and support with Bibles as appropriate. Spiritual care is available regardless of the status of the Field Kitchen and may be requested seprately. Our team in a major earthquake would become operational in 24 hours and as such our readiness is performed through out the year on different Christian and Community events. We regularly feed the homeless with our outreach team/ and have worked in support of Union Rescue Mission (Emagio) field activities. |
