On Thursday, October 15, 2009 the Great California Shakeout gave over 6.5 million participants a “shaking” wake-up call. At the Highland Sam J Racadio Library and Environmental Learning Center, over 40 patrons and staff participated in the drill by learning to “Duck, Cover, and Hold On” as a soundtrack simulated the noise and confusion we may experience during an earth quake. Adults and children of all ages then evacuated the facility to the “Safe Zone” outside the facility where a rousing round of applause and participant buttons for all signaled a job well done. If necessary…. Highland is ready to rumble!
