Caltech and USGS will provide you with the latest tools and resources you’ll need to be ready for the next earthquake. Come and mingle with the leading earthquake scientists and experts, as you move from scientist-to-scientist, to get your questions answered, and learn the important questions to ask- for the optimum earthquake reporting and coverage.

Caltech and USGS will provide you with the latest tools and resources you’ll need to be ready for the next earthquake. Come and mingle with the leading earthquake scientists and experts, as you move from scientist-to-scientist, to get your questions answered, and learn the important questions to ask- for the optimum earthquake reporting and coverage.

With the Northridge Earthquake 20th anniversary upon us (on January 17th), this is a unique opportunity for you to interview seismologists for your upcoming earthquake stories, and to learn more about how to report on earthquakes.

Media Summit includes:

The latest information on:
o earthquakes and earthquake engineering science
o software and web resources for reporting on local and worldwide earthquakes,
o two-way conversations with the leading earthquake scientists to answer questions and learn who the experts are for future stories/interviews

A preview of Northridge earthquake 20th anniversary activities:
o virtual exhibit website
o new 3D animations of “Northridge-Near-You”
o suggested stories and resources

Tour of the Caltech Seismological Laboratory and Media Center

Who Should Attend:
Station managers, reporters, assignment editors, news directors, anchors, technical crew

Directions: Caltech Athenaeum is located on the northwest corner of Hill and California.

Parking is free at the Athenaeum parking lot.
