- If you need to change your organization's contact person: Please make a new registration at ShakeOut.org/register. We will then connect this to your organization previous registrations.
- Questions about how to participate? Visit ShakeOut.org/faq and shakeout.org/howtoparticipate for more information. ShakeOut is a collection of thousands of separate earthquake drills in schools, organizations, and households, so you decide where and when to practice earthquake safety. There is nowhere you need to go, and you will not feel any shaking! Also, we are NOT having ann online event this year (this was only done during Covid-19). Please do not login to the website to participate.
- When to start/stop your drill: ShakeOut.org will not send you any alert, email, or text for when to begin. While many participants will begin their earthquake drill at 10:16am on October 16, this is not required and many drills are at other times or other days. You or others involved with your drill can set reminder alarms on cell phones, computers, or clocks for the time you choose. Most basic earthquake safety drills last 1-2 minutes, but you can also include other aspects of your emergency plans.
- Test of the MyShake app: If you are in California, Oregon, and Washington and have installed the MyShake earthquake early warning App on your phone, you might get a test message sometime between 10:14 and 10:20. Please do not use this test as reminder to start your drill, as receiving the test is not a guarantee. Visit the MyShake FAQ to learn more.
- Downloading your certificate of participation: Please wait until Friday or next week to login to your ShakeOut profile. if you are registered for 2025, links to certificate options will be below the red “update your registration” button.
- News media inquiries and interview requests: email news@shakeout.org for assistance.
