Lynda Fletcher 2011 (Office Manager - Global Medical Services)
Our entire office took part in the simulated earthquake. At 10:00 am everyone dropped to the floor and remained under their desks until the all clear was announced. All in all it was a great experience and everyone feels a little more at ease and prepared. Read more...

We flashed the office lights to signal the start and end of the drill. Our gathering place was the central boardroom. When we did role call seven workers did not report as directed in the Safety Plan so we classified them as "trapped by debris". We didn't have a 1st Aid kit in the boardroom. Read more...


Carmen Funk 2011 (General Manager - F.A.S.T. First Aid & Survival Technologies Limited)
Manufacturing of emergency preparedness kits at F.A.S.T. was temporarily put on hold while our staff participated in the earthquake drill. After the drill, we all assembled in the training room to discuss the experience and make plans to do the drill with our families that evening. All-in-all an excellent exercise! Read more...

We conducted our drill at 10:05 am and had enthusiastic College-wide participation from employees, students and visitors. As this was our first earthquake drill we advertised the event via numerous channels in the weeks prior. Shannon Alfred 2011 (Emergency Coordinator - Namgis First Nation / Village of Alert Bay)
Teachers and students did a good job at the duck, cover and hold procedure under their desks and held onto the desk leg while they counted to 60 twice, than proceeded to evacuate to their designated areas outside. Workers did a good job as well, from the drill they discussed as a group and identified many hazards within their office space, as well as other areas that might have been more safer. Read more...

Our initial community outreach and education series culminated with all parishioners participating in a dry run "Drop, Cover, and Hold On!" exercise the weekend before the official ShakeOut. The following weekend we conducted our actual ShakeOut drill. Our parish plans to actively participate in future ShakeOut exercises. Read more...
